823 Video Assignment: Interview about WSJ

899 E-mail Response for Case Study 1

To: Betty Friedman
Subject: Notification of our decision about your Proposal

Dear Betty,

Thank you for your report. It was very helpful to us.
We made decisions based on your recommendations.
Please refer to the letter below for our reasons.

1. Internal communications
We agree to both of your recommendations.
We will make a weekly report policy. We must clarify and share important topics.
We will appoint the new manager in charge to the Lawrence Discount Stores.
In addition to this measure, we will educate our managers about corresponding troubles.

2. Sales reps/Head Office
We basically agree with your recommendation, but we think it is a very troublesome job to send daily reports by mobile unit.
We will require salespersons to submit forms to inform of daily problems and manage information more conveniently.

3. Customer Services Department
We agree with your recommendation.
We have a quality control department, so we will bring together information about production which has probability of malfunction, and forward to other departments with their recommendation.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
Kosuke Omagari

899 Self-introduction

Hello everyone.

My name is Kosuke Omagari, and I come from Japan.
I am an engineer of machinery.  I am a member of Fuji Heavy Industries (FHI) Aerospace Company.  In general, our company is famous for the brand name of SUBARU.  FHI is composed of three divisions, Automotive Business, Aerospace Company, and Industrial Products Company.
In Aerospace Company, there are two sections: defense section and commercial section.  I belong to the commercial airplane section as a manufacturing engineer of metal parts.  We provide the Center Wing Box structure of B777 and B787 to Boeing.

My hobbies are listening and playing music.  Because of it, I have played the clarinet from junior high school.  I belonged to a wind ensemble in high school, and also an orchestra in college.  I played not only classical, but so many other kinds of music.  Even now, sometimes I play the clarinet in my free time.  It is my precious hobby, and I probably will go on it for my life.
I also like watching sports, baseball, soccer, and so on.  In Japan, when sports games are held, the wind ensemble and brass band go along with the team and cheer them.  Additionally, my club took part in games and cheered very hard.  Through these activities, I became fond of watching sports.
In contrast, I do not like noisy and crowded places like Shibuya and Shinjuku.  These places make me tired.

Through this English education program, I would like to improve my communication and presentation skills in English.  I have a lot of chances to work with Boeing and other foreign engineers.  I would like to be a specialist of engineering and work globally.
On the other hand, I have a dream.  I want to contribute to the improvement of our company’s technology, so that we can finally produce our original airplane.  It will be wonderful when our airplane flies all over the world.  I believe it will come true.

Thank you.
